You involve me, I will learn

I saw these lines in status message of one of my friend, can’t remember exact lines but theme was something like this:

“You won’t teach me, I won’t learn
You teach me, I will mug
You involve m, I will learn.”

We all cleared a very prestigious examination-“JEE” and considered  to be brightest and sincere students but now a t college, we bunk classes, sleep in classes. In short, we have lost that zeal of learning.
Big question, WHY?
Students blame inefficient teaching by Profs. Teachers on the other hand complain about sincerity and discipline in classes.
We; JEE qualified students, professors; considered to be best in India, and one great institute- seems a perfect hub for learning, but is it so?
What is the reason? Who is to blame for this- students, teachers or system?
I have following feedbacks:

i)    Good teaching facilities in classrooms:

Each class must have at least one mike and one projector for teachers. This way hey can better convey concepts without wasting much energy on drawing figures and shouting.

ii)    More practical work:

We do work in laboratories for practical knowledge of subject but that could be made more interesting by assigning more practical works like making models showing practical applicability of concepts.

iii)    Student-teacher projects:

A teacher usually works on many projects. She/he can give one big projects as assignment for whole class. Prof can work as mentor and let them make learn management, analytical and research skills.

iv)    Student-teacher relations:

There should be some personnel touch in teaching. Teacher should try to make jokes and may spend some time with students. These activities will help in removing the current barrier between students and teachers.
